CPA members participating in the CPA Professional Liability Insurance Program can contact a Gowlings pro bono legal service representative at 1-888-943-0953. You will be asked for your membership and insurance information when you call.

CPA has appointed Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP (Gowlings) as the exclusive provider of 30-minute pro bono and inclusive legal claims defence services under the CPA Program. All physiotherapists holding insurance with the CPA Program can access the expertise of the largest and most highly-recognized legal firm in medical defence and professional liability in Canada.

In addition to defending all members in civil and regulatory proceedings, Gowlings will provide advice to CPA members on questions regarding confidentiality, release of information, response to a subpoena, conflict of interest, ethical conduct, incompetence and other professional issues that may be covered under the CPA insurance program.

CPA values the integrity and professional reputation of our physiotherapist policy holders and is committed to providing CPA Program members with a superior legal defence. Should an incident occur, or a claim be made against you, you can be confident that your entitled legal services are of the highest quality. The CPA Program's Risk Management Committee and risk and insurance professional staff will work closely with Gowlings to advocate for the vigorous defence of claims against policy holders, particularly any precedent-setting claims, the outcomes of which could affect the profession. Your personal and professional integrity will be upheld.
